Mia Borders: News

Happy July! - July 13, 2010

Why, hello there! June was CRAZY! We had so much fun and we owe it all to our wonderful fans! First, we had some really great shows, so thanks to everyone who came out (especially our peeps in Montana!). Second, we finished in first place in our genre on OurStage's "Artist on the Verge" contest. WOW! Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to vote and spread the word. It means so much to us and we love you all!

Few things: we posted a new slideshow video on our YouTube page, so you can look at photos of us from this past amazing year while jamming out to "These Roads" from our latest album, "Magnolia Blue." Also, we just heard that Lady Gaga (what a nutter) hit 2 million Twitter followers. Let's give her a run for her money. We're so close - we have 89... :0) ! Lastly, we still have some seriously awesome music for sale at our website and on iTunes! Hit that hotness up!!

Anyways, we hope everyone had a great and safe 4th of July and that you can make it out sometime this month to see us. Here's where we'll be:

Help us get to #1! Buy the CD! Come see us live! - June 15, 2010

Hey, peeps!! We've got lots of news for you. Brace yourselves...

We've been nominated by the New Music Seminar and OurStage as an "Artist on the Verge." Ah!!!

The “Artist on the Verge” project is a closed competition for nominated artists by some of the biggest names in the industry such as OurStage, MySpace, Facebook, ReverbNation and Tommy Boy Records. “Artist on the Verge” is designed to expose these talented artists to some of the top media, tech and music industry executives. Three lucky Rock, Pop, Urban, Singer/Songwriter or Specialty artists will be selected from the NMS “Artist on the Verge” entries to showcase at the New Music Seminar and be critiqued by a panel of industry executives on July 20, 2010 in NYC. The grand prize winner, from the artists showcased, will walk away with over $40,000 in consultations, promotion, marketing and music equipment!

Help us out by judging the competition here.

Here's how it works:

You can judge the 36 songs in the competition either 4 at a time, ranking them "Best" to "Worst," or 2 at a time, head-to-head (this goes much faster and the songs don't automatically play). Once you've listened to at least 15 seconds of a song one time, you can rank it and move on without having to listen again. It's tedious, yes, but the more you judge, the greater your influence is, so KEEP JUDGING!! Magnolia Blue

AND "Magnolia Blue" is now available to download from the iTunes Music Store by clicking here.

MAMMOTH March with Mia Borders! - March 5, 2010

You'll have to forgive me...  I literally love alliteration.  Aside from my silliness, we do have an amazing month ahead of us.  It's so jam-packed with shows, I'm just going to stop talking.

One more thing!!

Children's Bureau

My brother Che (the other half of Blaxican Records), my buddy Clarke, and our band's lead guitarist Kyle "The Italian Stallion" Sclafani are running the Crescent City Classic 10K in support of the Children's Bureau of New Orleans.  If you'd like to contribute to the cause (which you should because I know how awesome each and every one of you are!), check out their page.  Any amount helps and it all goes to the kids!!

Hope to see y'all around town this month!
