Influenced by legendary artists like Chuck Berry, Bill Withers, Irma Thomas, and The Meters, Borders blended their soulful essence with her own artistic vision.

Beginning in April 2006, Borders honed her skills as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist, performing at local venues and immersing herself in the vibrant New Orleans music scene. Her talent and raw energy quickly caught the attention of music enthusiasts and fellow musicians, propelling her towards a professional career.

With her 2007 debut release, “the ep," Borders showcased her powerful vocals, thoughtful songwriting, and dynamic presence. The release garnered critical acclaim and established her as a rising star in the music industry. Her ability to effortlessly blend genres created a refreshing sound that resonated with audiences.

Her subsequent albums, including “The Nashville Cuts,” “Southern Fried Soul,” “Magnolia Blue,” “Wherever There Is,” “Quarter-Life Crisis,” “Fever Dreams,” and 2019’s “Good Side of Bad” - all released under her own record label Blaxican Records - expanded her musical horizons while staying true to her New Orleans roots.

Heralded locally and nationally as one of the city’s best talents, Borders has been featured on AXS.tv’s coverage of The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and has performed at such renowned venues as Essence Festival, Brazil’s Bourbon Street Music Festival, House of Blues New Orleans, Tipitina’s, Santa Cruz Blues Fest, Chattanooga’s Night Fall, Voice of the Wetlands, Memphis’ Levitt Shell, Wakarusa, Long’s Park Amphitheater, 2012 Food & Wine Classic, and The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. She has shared bills with B.B. King, Corinne Bailey Rae, Lee Fields, and George Porter Jr, among others.

Off stage and outside of the studio, Borders runs Third Coast Entertainment, a booking agency and event production company aimed at elevating women, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC artists. She also founded The Borders Foundation to support artists from marginalized communities.
